Ahhhhhh! Finally able to get these out of my headd. Feels good to draw again, mang.

Where most of my winter break has been spent. DO YOU SEE THAT OLD BLANKET THAT IS FRAYING AT THE ENDS? I've had that since BIRTH. I can't sleep without it. My parents call it puo bei (literally "crappy/trashy blanket) and they used to say that it would be really embarrassing if I brought it to college with me. AND IN THE END, I DID. (I brought it home for winter break though!)

ps my sister sleeps like a starfish and so do I SO IT IS A BATTLE TO NOT FALL OFF THE BED.

Dragged my old telescope out to watch the red moon, realized I was missing pieces on the eyepiece so I had to tape the lens on...AT LEAST IT STILL WORKED. Too bad the moon itself was too small to photograph :T Took a bunch of long exposure shots of the sky instead!

~~
Met up with Lindsay and took photos~ I was...really uncreative that day. I need to think of concepts like how I did THAT ONE TIME. orzzzz

I bought a transparent Christmas orb at Michael's on a whim (MAYBE THIS WILL BE USEFUL FOR COSPLAY). Turns out that it KINDA works like a fisheye? kinda kinda notreally...

Blue skies and green hills. WHY I LOVE NORCAL.

We went to V's house in attempts to work on cosplay. BUT NO MOTIVATION. And there was only V's devil sewing machine. So we just loafed around until Tonya and Nick showed up (2 hours) later.

So, my grandfather. Right after we finished our holiday party, my parents and I were all cleaning up, talking about how it was successful and how everyone was pretty happy and all that. It was really nice, just talking to my parents (its been a LONG time since we had time to do that). Annnd then, we got the call from the doctors in China. My grandfather is sick again. The fever that had started the day after my dad returned to the states turned into something muuuch worse. From what I could pick up from my dad's conversation on the phone, my grandpa's liver and kidneys were infected and he had fallen into a coma again. The doctors wanted to put him in the ICU, and my grandma (who is a doctor and the ONLY reason why he's still alive) refused since she wouldn't be able to do anything or even see him if he was sent there. My dad's going back in a few days. Ahhhhhh. My grandpa's been having problems since 2003 (when he had his first stroke) and he hasn't been able to speak since 2008. Each time he gets sick, he gets farther and farther from how he used to be. Right now, he can't recognize ANYBODY and can't speak or move on his own anymore. Its been especially difficult on my dad since he's their only child and he has the factory to look after AND us in the states. Sigh. My grandpa basically raised me as a kid (Dad was busy with work and mom was busy with baby Angela) and as a kid I NEVER appreciated him. My grandpa is the kindest person I (and everyone else who knows him) know. He used to give me DaBaiTu (white rabbit) candies if I had been good. He'd tell me the ONE story he knew again and again(or START to, I'd always interrupt him or he'd not continue)- "last night, there were two little black cats outside---". I wonder how that story would have continued or ended. Or if it had an ending at all. Sigh.

Dream; underwater + Jeanine

HMMMM I'M NOT TOO SURE ABOUT THE ORDER IN WHICH THINGS HAPPENED. But here we go-

Jeanine and I had decided to embark on an adventure to this underwater...theme park. Not REALLY a theme park but...I don't know how else to describe it. To get there, we went on highway 24 and then to the highway to San Francisco, BUT WE WENT VIA INNER TUBE. The highway was much more narrow and was basically a slide with water running down it (I think it was raining too). At first it was easy going, but it got REALLY FAST (just like that crazy waterslide at Waterworld that burned all our backs LOL). I could feel my stomach dropping at each dip and I actually woke up at this point because of the falling sensation (I kicked my legs up irl haha). Fell back asleep and it jumped to the theme park, which was in a fictional part of SF, but I knew it was in SF. It was nighttime when we reached it; the streets were shining and reflecting back the city lights, and there was a light fog (the tall theme-park building (looked like a transparent skyscraper) was right on the water's edge). From outside, you could see the HUGE aquarium inside-I think this was heavily influenced by that one tumblr picture here We went in and went into the (really plain) changing rooms. We went to the door that lead to the "park" (the door was on the ceiling...) and we were standing there for awhile wondering where to leave our clothes and things (I remember worrying becauset I couldn't bring my ipad with me into the water LOL). An elderly lady with one of those flower-swim caps talked to us for a bit ("I've been doing this every day for the past 40 years! Just kick the sharks in the face") and then she went up and away through the air and outside. But the outside was...underwater...like, really really deep underwater. There was a cable with christmas lights attached to it (I thought of bokeh instantly HAHA) that was supposed to guide us to the top (so I guess the main attraction was just to follow the cable upwards and get to the surface?). We finally got the guts to go through the door and we started swimming towards the top. THERE WERE SHARKS. So many sharks that we couldn't go upwards without scraping against them (and it really really hurt). At one point, we wanted to turn back because the surface was so far away, but the door back was gone (and the christmas light cable was just floating around with no anchor). We finally reached the surface (looked like what the Bahamas look like in commercials), but when we looked at each other, we had both turned into old ladies HAHAHAA. With flower swim caps.

Don't remember the rest!

Oh yes, and all through this dream, I could hear indistinct murmuring in the background. It may have been my family talking. This dream happened...pretty late in my sleep cycle...It was already bright outside when I woke up halfway through it.

Black Swan + Fabric Shoppannng + THE FIGHTER

SO. I went to SF with Tim to go fabric shopping and watch Black Swan! Black Swan was...really intense. I haven't felt that mentally drained from a movie EVER before. It wasss kind of predictable and I feel like they could have done more with it BUT I throughly enjoyed it (even though I was covering my eyes...through a lot of it).

THEN WE WENT TO CASTRO TO GET SANDWICHES

another dream; Late to Vasa's COLOR class

HMM Two vivid dreams in a row? Hmmmm...

It was the first day back at school! But...it didn't really look like campus much at all (even though it was). Rather, it looked like a combination of places from my middle school (which was very, very beautiful) and...probably images of the East Coast or suburban England from tumblr. There was a very folksy-hipster feel to the landscape. SO I think I was chatting with some people up until an hour before class in some grassy hill by a building (looks like side of middle school) when I realized I had to go to class. It was specifically VASA's color class. I started walking back to campus (but instead of usual campus scenery, its England). I pass through an...antique moleskine specialty shop...Where the store was elevated about 4 feet off the ground and had really wide stairs leading up to it. I went inside to pick up art supplies, but they didn't have any so I left and considered taking the bus back to campus. But because of all the times I've attempted to take the bus in this dream world unsuccessfully (I've been fine with taking the campus bus IRL; there was only one failed attempt) I decided to walk back. Buuuut I was really really far away, so I started to run back. The sensation of running and getting really tired was really vivid; I could feel the coppery taste at the back of my dry mouth and the ache in my chest and the cramp in my shoulder from my heavy bag. I ran through old warehouses that were vermilion from the rust (meat packing plants that were abandoned perhaps? I wasn't afraid of running through these warehouses, even though I would have normally been terrified). I finally reached the art building (but it wasn't exactly right...it was only like 3 stories tall instead of 8) and I rannnnn up the stairs to the classroom and then the dream ended.

DREAM

ALRIGHTY LETS TRY TO GET THIS DOWN BEFORE IT DISAPPEARS FOREVER.

Its actually 2am right now and I've had the whole day to "forget" this dream BUT I still remember it pretty clearly, which is rare.

ANYWAYS

I was...in a pseudo Asia. I was still dorming with those two in that dream, but our room was MUCH smaller and was super super dark. I was tired of being in there, so I went outside. Instead of our usual hallway...there was a labyrinth of bamboo poles that made up a hallway (but they were spaced so that you could look through them and see outside) that was REALLY high up (ground was no where in sight and the other stories around our hallway was dizzying). I walked around for quite awhile in that hallway (it forked many many times and I didn't really pay attention to where I was going (I had no destination)until I got to this HUGE open space. All of the hallways converged and you could see the mountains that were amazingly huge/tall next to the openings of the hallways. The mountains were yellow and green (color scheme of the mountains is similar to the bamboo coloring in "Tarzan")and there was a light mist. The shape of the mountains...was like huangshan or guillin...but it was much, much higher. The sky was a misty grey/white...like there was only a light fog between the sun and the earth (so it made for beaaautiful lighting hahaha). ANYWAYS, in this dream I looked at the mountains for quite a while (my view was sweeping and wasn't just confined to where I was standing in the dream). Then...I think I went to try to find my way back to my room, but ALAS with all the hallways that looked the same, I couldn't have hoped to find it, so I found a new one. In that new one, I ran into some Chinese cosplayers that I knew OF but didn't know TOO well...So in the dream, I stayed over with them for a few hours in their dark dark room. They were making dolls...and the dolls had wigs and these really eerie beady eyes (these dolls were miniatures of themselves). One of the girls had a dark blue wig (bob cut) on, and her doll was matching (I REMEMBER THIS VERY CLEARLY. I left that room..and I fell...? DON'T REALLY REMEMBER but I ended up at the very very bottom of the labyrinth on some kind of safety net right above the water (the sky was blue now and the sun was BLAZING) and Olivia was there with me. I like...strapped her to my back and I started crawling up the safety net to get to higher ground again. We finally reached the top of the safety net and we tried to take a bamboo elevator (LIKE GEORGE IN THE JUNGLE LOL) to the upper levels BUT this old lady didn't let us so we had to go down again and try to find another way up. We went into this...courtyard? (looks like the ones in LiJiang) There was a waterway and the stone underfoot was worn and super smooth. There was an Indian man, an Italian man, and...a hippo (but it was just in the background for a while). I tried to ask them for directions back to the upper levels, but...the Italian got angry...and he started yelling...the hippo came out of its spot, started charging (I remember feeling knee-softening fear when I saw the hippo charge.) I graaaabbed my sister, and we ran up the stones and like...along a wall that had ivy on it.

DON'T REMEMBER MUCH MORE!

But now I know FOR SURE I dream in color. Not sure about sound though!

I think...I will draw this out...as environment practice haha.
