Thailand / Phuket / 8.5.2013

THANK YOU CASSIE FOR REMINDING ME... I've been meaning to get around to updating, but photos took all day to upload and I got lazy...

SO HERE GOES!

August 5--HK to Phuket

Our original flight was already pretty late; it was supposed to leave at 11pm and get to Phuket at 2am...It takes an average 3 hours to get to the HK airport from Humen, so we left at 6:30pm, got there at 9:30...and found out that our flight was cancelled and that we got moved to the 2am flight... They gave us some food vouchers for the food court, so we ate dinner there. The gate for our new flight wasn't announced until 30 minutes before departure (which is when people usually board...), so we were running all over the airport. The shuttles to far away terminals were closed because it was so late, and no employee really knew how to get to our terminal so we just followed the biggest mass of chinese tourists we found (and actually got to our gate because of them).

We arrived in Phuket at the break of dawn. We were all super tired and a little annoyed that one night's reservation at the hotel was wasted, but once we actually saw how pretty the area was, we didn't feel so bad. We stayed at Kalima hotel in Patong Beach, which was more of a mountain resort than a beach resort, but we had a really nice view of everything! We had breakfast, then went to sleep.

Got Pina Coladas! MY DAD IS THE FIRST PERSON TO BUY ME A DRINK WAHOO

We went to go see the Fantasea show that night! It was part show/part theme park. Super gimmicky but it was pretty well done for an asian attraction! THEIR BUFFET COULD SEAT 4000 PEOPLE. The food was only like 10 different choices, but the sheer size of the dining room was pretty crazy.

We browsed around their gift shops for like 2 hours because the drivers dropped us off waaay before the show actually started..I guess they make most of their money off the gift stores and random "thai" attractions from the bored tourists.

THEN IT STARTED TO RAIN SUPER HARD AND EVERYONE WAS TRAPPED INSIDE

We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the show, but it was pretty cool! It felt almost cirque du soleil ish, except with more animals and less super cool costumes. We got to take a picture with a tiger cub! I TOUCHED ITS BACK.

WOO
