China trip-Day 3: Beijing 2.25.09

Day 3! We went to the Great Wall, silk street, and Peking Opera.

We drove two hours to get to the Great Wall location (not the usual location, ours was farther away and had no other tourists) and stopped by a stupid jade-selling tourist trap. The "tour" was 5 minutes long and we were forced to spend the rest of the time (1 hour) looking at the jade goods. The shop was HUGE and had about 50 employees...waay too many.

AT THE GREAT WALL THERE WAS A FAT CAMEL. Everyone started taking photos of it, and we all got yelled at by the camel's owner, who wanted 5 yuan for a photo huuuuu

Climbing to get the Great Wall was killer. We hiked...for 40 minutes with nonstop stairs...huuuuu It was worth it though!

A few people walked ALL THE WAY to the top part of the great wall; I was too lazy and my friends were too lazy so we just took alot of photos.

My teacher had dropped my domokun out of the camera bag, and we didn't notice. I took that photo for remembering the semi-base of the mountain, but domokun is IN THE CORNER ON THE GROUND HAHAHHAA

THEN WE SLID DOWN THE GREAT WALL. IN LITTLE CHUTE THINGS. TWICE. IT WAS SO FUN HOMG. I had this CRAZY Italian/German guy behind me the ENTIRE TIME, he kept on bumping into me, and he would be like VROOOOOOM VROOOOOM and would yell things in his language. He looked FORTY. funtimessss We all got yelled at on the second ride because we were all going too fast, but WE JUST WENT FASTER BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T CATCH US A HUR HUR HURHUURRR

THE BUILDING BURNED DOWN.

For lunch, we went to this ultra weird German BBQ/buffet thing...where the waiters were dressed up as cowboys and stuff. They all looked exactly the same AHHAHAHA Our chinese teacher was hit on by chicken-heart waiter; "Here, I give my heart to you". "Da jie, have a nice day!" and general smiling and waving and winking and lots of stuff hhaahaha

PEOPLE KEEP ON THINKING THAT I'M THE TEACHER. DO I LOOK THAT OLD HUUUU

After lunch, we went to Silk Street aka Xiu Shui aka mall of bootleg designer goods. I didn't get that much, only a pair of boots and a camera bag. Most of the time, I was helping others bargain because I was pro at it. I got a A-class LV bag for 180 (I had to bargain for a full 30 minutes in the effing basement/parking garage [illegal to sell LV and chanel now in the upper floors] while I was having a coughing fit because of the smog.) Got a 180 yuan Dolce&Gabbana bag for Jeanine, and another Tokidoki bag for Caseyz. Everyone thought I was Korean there huuuuu

We went back to the hotel to watch some Peking Opera aka screaming men in falsetto. I almost fell asleep during the performance BUT IT WAS JUST TOO LOUD. The power went out halfway through, and it was pretty chaotic backstage (we could hear them yelling). I'd pass if I was offered to watch peking opera again, but I'm glad I was able to see it once in my life.

THERE WAS THIS TEA POURER GUY. PRETTY COOLZ

Went back to our rooms, walked around with Jeanine like hobos around the hotel. We wanted to get a massage, but quickly realized that the "massages" were actually a cover-up for prostitution HAHAHHAHA. We watched the Oscars in 3 different people's rooms, and went to bed when there was nothing else to do.
