China trip-Day 5: Xian, 2.27.09

Went to hotel (5star), Mosque, AMAZING high school, Shumon's house, hotel funnz

After the train station, we went to the hotel~ On the way there, we were introduced to our new tour guide, Minnie, who was the best tour guide on the trip. For some reason, David was still there...Even though he didn't say anything...



We rested at the hotel for awhile, happy that the hotel was finally not sketchy~ Katy and Leslie were our neighbors, and we made up a "jingle bells" knocking code (because doors and rooms were connected) hahaha.

We went to the Mosque and had a snack at McDonalds~ At McDonalds, I had to translate for 6 people, all of whom changed their orders AT LEAST 2 times each... And 4 of them got really upset because they got a order that was a bit off (just a previous order they had =___=)





We walked thrugh a market to get to the mosque~

The mosque was BEAUTIFUL. Xian was the beginning of the Silk Road, so there were alot of Arabic influences from the beginning of its history to now.













Went to the praying area


Clocks represented what times of day they would pray

...for some reason, I'm missing ALOT of photos on my Xian folder for flickr....
We saw alot of birds, a fat orange cat, and cool rocks too~ All of which I took photos of...that aren't on my flickr.

After the mosque, we went to the SUPER NICE HIGH SCHOOL. We were prepared to sing "take me out to the ballgame" and give them a dinky bag with our yearbook....It was quite embarrassing, since they had 5 sets of performance and BOUQUETS for us...Our speech compared to theirs was pathetic.

We kept on tripping over the silver thresholds LOL

We had a student to student talking-conference with Shumon and 3 other girls~ One was totally wearing circle lens ahhahaha We talked about life in america, school, ect ect. We got circle-lens girl to hip hop dance for us. Twice. Kinda cool ahahahha

After the school, we went home with Shumon for the family dinner. When I first saw her dad, I thought he was a STUDENT or an older brother LOL He dressed like a hipster hahahaha~ The dad was SO funny, was really good at English, and was TOTALLY into photography (had some CRAAAZY lenses). They lived in the military hospital university (both parents were military doctors, dad was orthopedist, and mother was...dentist I think?) Shumon's cousin was also at her house, he was very nice ahhahaha~ The mom was SO cute, she would speak in chinglish (even though her english was really good) to us because she thought our chinese level was lower than it actually was. She would make up words hahahaahhaa~ At Shumon's house, we went to her Jay Chou-covered room and hung out in her father's office, where he showed off his photography and lenses XD

Dinner was DELICIOUSSS They kept on making MORE food for us as we told them what we liked to eat LOL The beef dish was AMAZINGGGG All the food was SO GOOD. ; A ;





Hahahaha, during dinner, Shumon's dad would scoot really close to her with his legs crossed, with a very girly look, and would be like "NI HAO" in a girly voice LOL She would make a really disgusted face and be like "FATHER STOP EMBARRASSING ME". SO FUNNY, HAD TO BE THERE.

After dinner, we went on a walk downstairs, and we walked to a small underground grocery store. I had...50 chinese cents with me, so I got two sticks of gum LOL We then went to the kiddie park, which was AMAZINGLY FUN. Jeanine and I totally freaked out when we saw the see-saw, and we were bouncing on it quite violently LOL SO FUN. We got Shumon to play on it too ahahhahaha~ There was this lady on the phone who was sitting on one of the swings, she probably thought we were crazy ahahhahaha We went on the old men spinners, the body twisters, and the leg movers LOL We all talked about Americans (and how alot were really stupid and law suits) boys, and our previous relationships LOL So fun~~ None of us wanted to leave the park waaah, but we had to return to the hotel at 9pm ; ___;

We took a final photo together~ The guy is Shumon's cousin because her dad insisted on taking the photo XD

So they drove us back, and we hung around in the lobby for a long time, just talking to Leah and Channing (who got forcefed dumplings LOL) and the people from our school trickling in.

When we DID go up, we went to David and Yaron's room, where Robert set things on fire OTL, where Yaron and Steph were wrestling, where we watched pro wrestling, where Robert tried to cut a sheet with Yaron's sword, where we made a human pyramid, where we hit bootays with the shoe horns, where we gave each other massages, and so much more that I can't remember. So funnnn~
